Ekphrasic Poetry

In class we discussed two Ekphrasic poems, "How Long?" inspired by Goya's Colosso and Picasso's "Dream and Lie of Franco" inspired by Picasso's own painting Guernica. If you didn't comment much in class during the discussion, please feel free to comment below.

You may also use this blog post to share your original Ekphrasic poem composition.

I felt that both the painting and the poem expressed views on war. In the painting a man is being pictured as being very powerful over everything which symbolizes his strength and this mans power and struggle war and triumph bring him.

I agree with Juliet. The man illustrated in the drawing gives an exact visual to the poem and what the poem is trying to convey. Their messages both trying to get across the brutality of war.
