Lagaan PowerPoint

To view the PowerPoint on India, Bollywood, and Lagaan, visit Edline. Sorry for the extra step, but Blogger does not allow PowerPoints to be uploaded.

The PowerPoint also contains slides that describe the assignments that go along with viewing the film.

Even though I wasn't able to see the whole film, overall I thought it was a good movie and a nice change in World Lit going from sexism and oppression to learning about a country that I really don't know much about. What really works out nicely too is that my choice book is set in India so your power point is a great recource to me. This doesn't relate to Lagaan, but I think the BINGO activity is a fun new choice to do for our choice unit and i'm excited to see how it all turns out.

I agree with Abby in that the BINGO activity is a fun new choice. The blogs were a lot of work and were boring to look at during presentations. I also really liked Lagaan but am sad because I can't find it anywhere!

i agree with the comments above. i think it was a good movie, and i think that it was more fun because it was a musical. I also liked the different maps that we did for the movie because it helped me understand more of what was going on. I also think the BINGO activity is something new and fun, and it will definitely be interesting seeing what other groups put together!

I agree with the comments above as well...The movie i thought was very very good, I’m not sure why i liked it so much, either the new sense of culture, the romance, the game of cricket or the outstanding themes through-out the movie. The singing too!! I was not there for the BINGO activity but it sounds like it was a good activity, i hope that we can venture out and do more fun activities with either our book clubs or even as a whole class. Along with Abby i am in the same group and the power point was and will be a ton of help, i have already learned so much and am very eager to learn more about the fascinating culture.

After seeing most of the movie besides for the last portion of it, i though that the movie was decent however i felt as though it dragged some parts on for way too long. However, the random breaks into song were somewhat interesting as we have not seen a movie of this type before or from this culture and so it was interesting and a new experience.
